Welcome to StuckinaBook.com!

Thanks for visiting Stuck in a Book at my old site – and welcome to my new one! If you were searching for a particular page, then the content will all still be here. Search in the search bar on the right, use the drop down menu to search for authors, or check out a list of all my reviews.

Or just head to StuckinaBook.com homepage and have a look around! It’s lovely to have you here. Below is the post I wrote when I first moved here.

**********************************************************************************************

I feel (oddly) extremely nervous about this – but here is my new blog, StuckinaBook.com! But we’re friends; we can still call it plain old Stuck in a Book. Hopefully it has enough similarities to my previous incarnation to make you feel at home.

It feels rather a strange move, after more than eight years at Blogger, but the number of people who couldn’t post comments, and Thomas’s successful move, finally convinced me to give WordPress a go. (I’ve actually gone for WordPress.org and a web host, which may or may not end in tears.) Fingers crossed for a better comment experience for people here. So, I’ve been breathing deeply and anxiously, hoping I don’t lose all my readers and traffic, because I would hate to see that happen – but comforting myself that I can always go back to Blogger if everything goes horribly wrong.

More positively – welcome! All the content from my old blog is here, with a slightly altered header and a little bit less in the sidebar. Make yourself at home, do say hello, and all should proceed as normal from now on.

(Oh, and if you could update links, blog readers, etc. you would be making me feel very happy!)

Aw, that’s lovely to hear – and makes it feel like it was worth it! Exactly the sort of response I was hoping for.

You visit DC, you host a podcast, and now you’ve gone all blog-modern. I love it but I do wonder, what’s next??!!

Good luck in your beautiful new blog ‘home’. Blogger is not always the best, but I’d never dare move, for fear of losing everything.

Talking of Blogger and its idiosyncrasies, it won’t let me amend your link. I’ve even tried deleting you so I can put the new blog back on, and you are still there, on the old blog. Have the same problem with Thomas at My Porch…. HELP!!!

Welcome to WordPress – all very jolly. I’ll put the kettle on.
Just one weird thing – accessing the blog via Outlook and Chrome brings me to a neat, tidy blog site, whereas access via Mozilla and Aol brings me to a distorted site – the heading picture is huge and lunges off the page. If I shrink it to fit, the font below needs a magnifying glass. Has it fallen into Alice-land?

Well done for being bold and moving it all. I actually only discovered your blog while you were in America (thanks to googling my new love Rachel Ferguson) so have lots of catching up to do (8 years worth?!). It’s good that you’ll now get more feedback as I tried to leave a couple of comments. I hope it all works out – I’ll just go and change my bookmark!

Simon, I am still having problems – whatever I do I cannot link to your new site – I copy in the new address and save, but it still takes me to your old blog when I press the link on the sidebar, although it’s showing up correctly in the ‘configure’ box. Can anyone offer any advice please?

Someone else was saying they were having the same problem – and I don’t really know why! Maybe delete it altogether and add again? At the moment the name/text section seems to have changed to the web address, but the link seems to be to the old site? (Thanks so much for trying!)

Hi Simon, I haven’t been in touch with you for a very long time, so I’m relieved to see that you’re still writing!
So am I: I’m reaching the end of my bio/memoir of EM Delafield, and I’d like to use a reference that you provided in a review long ago. I can’t find it in your archives now, but it was a contemporary review you’d found of The Provincial Lady in War-time. You quote Edmund Blunden from a 1940 copy of the Book Society News. Is it possible to ask you for your source documentation so that I can quote it? I’d like to use a line from his review.
I’m so excited to discover, just now, your review of Straw Without Bricks! It and its genesis feature prominently in my book, so I’m very interested in your take on it.
I discovered your blog and Random Jottings via Google Alerts…they’ve stopped coming, for no apparent reason. It obviously doesn’t mean you two aren’t still writing your blogs!
    Anyway, thanks for your help,
