Quick bits and pieces

Hi all! Hope you’re having a good week. I just wanted to share three things with you quickly…

1.) I was on Eggheads! If you can watch BBC iPlayer, you can catch up with the episode. It was great fun, though nerve-wracking to watch, even though I knew the result…

2.) Speaking of TV – the Great British Bake Off is back soon, the contestants have been unveiled (I’ve got Kate in the sweepstake), and I will be doing recaps here – albeit perhaps delayed by a day or so.

3.) A fiendish odd-one-out book quiz I made for OxfordWords. Let me know how you do!

Congrats on the Eggheads Simon – it was quite surreal sitting watching the show and suddenly realising that was you on TV!

And the quiz *is* fiendish but I feel quite smug that I got 80%!

I wish I could see Eggheads here. Well, we do see it but they’re ancient episodes & on at really odd times… Maybe your episode will pop up in a year or two?!
I love the fact that everyone is getting upset about the gendered icing in the GBBO preview! Wish I could see that here too instead of just following on Twitter.
Fiendish quiz but you couldn’t stump me, I got them all right although the fantasy one was tricky. Love the fact that you popped Dorothy L Sayers in there & the Brontes.

I am completely addicted to the Great British Bake off. The season with Nadia, Tamal, Ian, Flora, etc., just ended on our PBS stations. Who knows when we’ll get to see the new season. I can’t even seem to find past seasons to watch, so I’ve taped this past season to watch when I need a GBBO fix.

I got 70% on the quiz, which I found disappointing.

And I was greatly disappointed that BBC player works only in Britain, where I most decidedly am not.

    Disappointment after disappointment {sigh}

Oh, Simon, I can’t thank you enough for the promise of GBBO recaps of the upcoming season’s episodes.
We in the US have to wait half a year or more to see the shows themselves on PBS. Being able to follow the new season through your summaries is, as Mel would say, fabs.

I saw the last ten minutes of Eggheads yesterday (I missed the beginning as I was watching the Olympics!) and thought I recognised you. I’ll have to watch the whole episode on iplayer. At least you made it to the last round—I’m guessing your subject was Arts & Books? I hope it was a fun experience?

8/10. Thanks for making me feel well read, Simon, but I must admit I got all the easy ones.

I’ve just just JUST started watching The Great British Bake-Off for the first time ever. I think the one I’ve been watching is your fourth series? I am rooting for Ruby because she is from ESSEX and I stand with my Essex girls cause we ain’t slags SO THERE ENGLAND.

(I also like the scientist man whose name I’ve forgotten, and the pretty shrink, Kimberley.)

We saw you on Eggheads!!! But we don’t like the programme, sorry, so FFed to your bits. Naughty! And hooray for recaps of GBBO, we were just talking about which bits you’d mention as we watched the first episode!
