Oddities

It’s been a little while since I finished a book, after quite a run of reviews and whatnot, so I’m going to have to satisfy myself (and, I’m afraid, my readers) with little puzzles instead.

Here’s a tricky one. Can you get from Bertrand Russell to DH Lawrence in three steps? Fill in the gaps… and explain why. What japes.

D[H Lawrence]

Oh, and all advent head over to www.dovegreyreader.typepad.com for lots and lots of book giveaways, 21 copies of The Reader in the latest draw!

It's probably not fair of me to answer as I know your thought processes too well & we've probably both just read Katie Roiphe's Uncommon Arrangements. Bertrand's sister-in-law was Elizabeth Von Arnim & her cousin was Katherine Mansfield & KM & her husband spent some time living with DHL & Frieda in Cornwall during WWI.

Ok – I obviously cannot compete with Lyn there, but I was going to go with:
Edith Finch was Bertrand Russell’s fourth wife, and by a huge stretch of the imagination, she probably knew Katherine Mansfield, who obviously knew DHL …… but I think Lyn’s is a better fit!

I knew KM would be part of the answer but that was as far as I got.
